Debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) insisted today its accounts are audited by an international firm, saying it reserves the right to sue those making malicious and slanderous statements against the government-owned strategic investor.
The company broke its silence after senior banker Datuk Seri Nazir Razak yesterday told its board to appoint independent auditors or resign over a RM42 billion debt.
“The Board would like to stress that 1MDB accounts are audited by an international audit firm, Deloitte, ” it said in a statement issued in capital Kuala Lumpur tonight.
It said that Deloitte signed off 1MDB’s 2013 and 2014 accounts without qualification and similarly KPMG signed off the 2010, 2011 and 2012 accounts with no qualification.
“The Board takes malicious and slanderous allegations seriously and reserves the right to undertake legal action,” it added….
“We request that no one should prejudge the matter without thorough facts ahead of the reviews being made public,” it said in the statement, adding it had full confidence in Deloitte and the Auditor-General, as does its 100% shareholder, Minister of Finance Incorporated.”
Months after Sarawak Report published damning evidence that would have had any other country’s police force requesting an interview with Mr Jho Low, 1MDB is venturing to try and turn the tide of criticism.
So can we again say please, please, please sue us here at Sarawak Report, so that we can get all our evidence out before a proper court and jury (that does not include Najib’s lackey judges and police force, who ring Putra jaya to learn their instructions on a daily basis).
A London court would do very nicely. Or a Singapore court, since that is where Jho Low stashed a number of his accounts.
Or maybe a US court, since Jho Low used the US banking system and he is a US citizen these days?
